Welcome to my family blog. I have been married to Mike for over half of my life. I love my Savior, Jesus. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to six terrific, interesting children. My 3 oldest were born to me in my younger years, while my 3 youngest were given to me by God in my older years. I am very blessed. ~Cheri

Should I Take This Personally?

I have a child (left un-named so you won't harbor hard feelings toward him/her) who has no guile.  You could call it no "tact" if you desire.  But this child always speak the truth.  No beating around the bush with this one.  Maybe I've not taught this child proper manners?  Maybe it does no good. I was surprised (well, maybe not) when this child told me after eating dinner, "This was the grossest meal of my entire life."

No one else seemed to have a problem eating coconut fried chicken tenders, wild rice, and broccoli.  Well, maybe Mike, because he dislikes coconut very much.  Is it really that gross?  I think it is time to sit down and have a one-on-one with this child.  Maybe we should all just do a manners/etiquette course?

For what it's worth...I LOVE coconut.  I spread coconut oil on my toast.  I could eat coconut creme pie every single day, and I LOVE Almond Joys and Mounds candy bars.

Amen to Almond Joys!! Maners are overrated, right?

Cheri,
That looks delicious and very much like the kind of food we have at our house! I love coconut, too..........would you be willing to share your chicken recipe? As far as manners, saying it at home is one thing - just make sure this child never says it out in public!!

Oh, how funny! If that's the grossest meal, then that kid's been eating really well!!
As for coconut, well, I side a bit more with Mike than with you. :P

Vicky

Well, no holding back for that child! Too funny! Love Almond Joy's. My mom has been putting coconut oil in everything....let me say not so good in scrambled eggs! The grossest eggs ever!

Hysterical! And coconut oil on toast....ummm...yum! I had never thought of that. Just catching up on your blog lately and have I ever said that I think you are amazing? No? Ok. I think you are amazing! (And watching Jordan pack up her things is giving me anxiety....that picture of her room almost packed up got me all teary.) How the heck do we let these kids go after all these years?

Naomi

Looks delicious! I serve food like that at my home and sometimes receive the same response! They will thank us for it one day :)

Nope. Don't take it personally. I would've eaten all that up and asked for seconds. lol.

I'm with you - bring on the coconut!!! Candles, creams, milk, food, butter, batter, desserts, ice cream. LOVE IT!!!

I'm guessing it's Eva or Joy. (Because you know, everything is a game and I just have to guess! ;) )You never mentioned Ivy being picky with food and she seems too sensitive to say that out loud. Ha-ha! And if your boys are like mine, there's no way they'd leave a full plate of food behind even if they didn't like it. Ha-Ha! ANd I imagine Jordan like my big girl, wanting the healthy stuff to keep the weight down.

No worries, taste buds change all the time. When we were newly home from China, Mia gagged when eating bagels, now she asks for them regularly.

Funny post!
