Welcome to my family blog. I have been married to Mike for over half of my life. I love my Savior, Jesus. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to six terrific, interesting children. My 3 oldest were born to me in my younger years, while my 3 youngest were given to me by God in my older years. I am very blessed. ~Cheri

Wanna Lose Weight?

Eat like Joy.  Or have an attitude like Joy.  I know my previous post was about Joy, but here is another one, giving you a visual into our special girl.

Food is definitely not a "biggie" for her like it is for Eva.  Eva has an internal clock that tells her exactly when it is lunch time and dinner time.  She can tell just by looking at the sun high in the sky which meal is due for her.  Joy...she could care less.

So, if you want to lose some weight or just not put on weight, do what Joy does.

Wake up happy.  But, when it is time to eat, be grumpy because it is a chore to eat a meal.  Too much work.  (Kind of like the work you have to do brushing your teeth.)

Then just eat half of a banana because it is required of you.  Next, even though you have a delicious home-made blueberry muffin in front of you (just a small one, not 2), crumble it up in your hands because it feels good.

After all that, make sure there are a lot of crumbs all over the floor so you can get exercise by sweeping them up after every single meal.

Just make sure you leave a little for the dog to enjoy.

Follow these rules for every single meal, and you may just be stuck in a size 3T even though you are 6 years old.

Sign me up cuz Weight Watchers ain't workin!! ;)

hehehe...Grace is in the same boat (size 4 and 7 years old). Food is not her big thing (unless, of course, it's candy or gum).

This sounds like Madeline some of the time. Sometimes she eats for three and other times, she could care less...unless it's a starburst, or tootsie or ice cream or....well, you get the point.

You would be rich if you could bottle that! I want some!

Best thing I ever did with my adopted "controlling" eater - control issue because it is the only thing she has control over - is have her drink a 350 Calorie Ensure Shake (milk added for better flavor) for breakfast. She began growing, filled out to a healthy weight- and even some of the negative behaviors that are associated with adoption/foster care, began to settle down more because she wasn't functioning on "empty." Ensure worked for us ... some people have success with other shakes too. We added a little chocolate or strawberry syrup at first, but soon didn't need it.

Haha! Now I know my problem! I wake up grumpy and get happy when it is time to eat! :)

Oh, what a cute stinker! That's so funny that she gets grumpy when it's time to eat. I have to say that I'm a bit more like your Eva!

HaHa Judi!!! You read my mind!

Awesome photos, and I love the looks on the faces of Joy and Moxie! Thinking about and praying for ALL of you today; came here to see if you'd heard anything from the big "kids." :) Are you a coffee drinker (or what's your vice)? I keep thinking we should grab whatever it is, out, or I'll bring it to your house, or you can come to mine.
