Chinese Food

Have any of you adoptive parents gone to the Chinese food market in your local city?  I have.  They have such a great selection of Chinese food to choose from.  Every time I go, I purchase this great herbal tea in a red can.  It is the same tea I bought from Carrefour's in Guangzhou.  Delicious.

Ivy has talked repeatedly about her Chinese breakfast...Chinese bread and rice.  That was her breakfast everyday.  For lunch it was noodles, and for dinner it was usually soup and rice.  No variety there.  So, I can see where her Chinese bread is a comfort food to her.  She never got a choice.  She just had to eat it or get nothing until the next meal (we're so spoiled here).

So, we ventured to the Chinese market in hopes of finding her beloved Chinese bread.  We did.  She picked out the appropriate stuffing...pork with oyster sauce.  Yum.  She'll gobble up 2 of these things every other morning.  We also grabbed some chicken/veggie stuffed dumplings/pot stickers.  Jack ate 7 of them yesterday at lunch.

2 kind words:

You'll have to let us try some of these when we come down...show me how to do it and all. I LOVE Chinese food, so I'm thinking I should like this too! I'm happy for Ivy. At least some of these things do not have to be a mere memory for her! =)

I love to hear the food memories - food definitely has a connection to one's past, sometimes pleasant or not so pleasant - or in our girls' case, very ROUTINE!
