Welcome to my family blog. I have been married to Mike for over half of my life. I love my Savior, Jesus. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to six terrific, interesting children. My 3 oldest were born to me in my younger years, while my 3 youngest were given to me by God in my older years. I am very blessed. ~Cheri

The Mountains

I've only lived in a few different places in our country.  The mountains in our area have to be my favorite.  Up until I was 10 years old, we would drive from the city to my grandparent's homes in the mountains of West Virginia.  I have the best memories of wandering through the woods, walking barefoot down soft pathways, and drinking the spring water rushing down the side of a mountain.

Once we actually moved near my grandparents, I never wasted an opportunity to explore a river, creek, or mountain.  I love the beauty of the mountains as I look out every window of my home.

My mom's house is nestled in these mountains about 5 miles away.

Maybe it reminds me of my childhood, but there is something simple in the beauty of the mountains.  When we lived in the city, my dad talked often of his home.  I remember how excited he was when we finally moved back to his "home" when I was 10 years old.

Seth and Tia went hiking nearby a couple of weeks ago.  It was a cold day, but the mountains are still beautiful in the middle of winter.

 Crazy kids...

p.s.  Mike figured out that blogger is having trouble using the updated version of internet explorer.  So, that is why I could not upload any pictures.  It still isn't fixed, so I'm using something different at the moment.  Thanks for all the comments.

Beautiful!

So beautiful, Cheri. I miss living in those mountains so much, and I pray it will be in the Lord's will for us to move back someday. For now, the visits to family have to suffice.

Vicky

I too love the mountains. There is something so peaceful there! I love your photos!

Look at those lovebirds! They sure look like marriage suites them well!

I, too, love the mountains. I spent about 6 years living in NC and VA and did my best, as a Florida gal, to visit them. There's just something magical about being surrounded by such vastness. It's such a great reminder that our Almighty God loves us so much, even the birds of the air etc...

Oh, and the start of your post made me think immediately of Cynthia Rylant's book "When I Was Young in the Mountains." I love that book!

Lovely! I, too, love the mountains, having grown up in western PA. Living in Ohio makes me really miss the mountains of home! Enjoyed the pics of your kids when they were younger as well!
